About Uploading |
| |
Uploading photos refers to the process of transfering
the digital photo files from your camera to your local disk drive
and then into your online order with the Espresso Photo web site. The
way you upload
photos
will depend on if you choose to click and drag inot our odering window
or use the "Browse" button to upload file one at a time. |
| |
|
| |
How
do I upload? |
| |
When you click on the Espresso Photo "Upload" and
"Order" button you will see a series of "Browse" buttons.
Click on the "Browse" button. You will now see the contents
of your computer. Navigate to the folder, or location, where the
photos to be printed are and select them. When you are done simply
click on "Send Now". A separate window will
open to show you the status of your upload. |
| |
|
| |
What is
the best file size? |
| |
The
number of pixels in your digital file will determine the print
quality. The higher
you set the original camera resolution
the better the print quality will be. Up to a point. Pictures that
fall below the recommended resolution guidelines may look okay
on your monitor, but will appear blurry and pixelated - that is,
the
image will appear in blocks, with jagged rather than straight edges
- when enlarged and printed. <What is Resolution?> |
|
Please use these guidelines: |
|
| Image Resolution |
File Size |
Maximum print size |
| less than 640 x 480 |
90KB or above |
Only wallet-size prints recommended |
| 640 x 480 px |
160KB or above |
Absolute minimum resolution for 4x6 (results
will vary) |
| 1024 x 768 px |
160KB or above |
Minimum recommended resolution for 4x6 |
| 1152 x 864 px |
210KB or above |
Minimum recommended resolution for 5x7 |
| 1600 x 1200 px |
260KB or above |
Minimum recommended resolution for 8x10 |
|
| |
|
| |
How long will it take? |
| |
Upload time vary depending on file size and your
internet connections speed. A typical 800K image can take as little
as a
few seconds or as long as several minutes to upload
each
image.
The
time
will
vary. For example, it takes 2 to 3 minutes to upload a single 400
KB file over a typical 56kbps modem. It may take 30 minutes to
upload 10
such images at this speed.
Not all broadband connections are alike either. DSL and cable
modems are designed to download information super fast, but they
have a much slower upload capacity.
|
| |
|
| |
I deleted a photo. Can I get it back? |
| |
No. Once you delete a photo or upload,
it is not possible to get it back from our server. The photo is still
safe on your hard drive. Simply "Browse" and upload again. |
| |
|
| |
SHARE
|
| |
|
| |
Can I share my pictures? |
| |
Yes, it is simple to share the photos
you have uploaded to Espresso Photo. After you have selected and
uploaded you photos
click on the middle "Share" button. A new window will open and
allow you to send an email to five different people. The email
they receive
will have a thumb nail size photo and link to the photo you have
selected to share.
|
| Now you do not have to keep track of how many prints
each person wants! |
|
| |
|
| |
How do I save my
photos? |
| |
Currently you should only plan on saving
you digital photos on you computers hard drive. Espresso Photo does
not store any of your photographs at this time. We may offer storage
in the future. Right now we keep you digital files through the production
cycle, which is typically one to two days. This is one way we have
found to offer outstanding quality and service at a low cost. Use
our contact page if you have comments or suggestions about this topic. |
| |
|
| |
Who can see my pictures? |
| |
The only people
who can see the digital photos you upload to Espresso Photo are
the ones you choose to send and email to through our "Share" button.
Other than that only our lab technician will see the photographs
before they are purged from our server.

ORDERS |
| |
|
| |
How do I track my order? |
| |
There are two phases of order tracking.
The first phase is during production. Espresso Photo will send
automatic email updates as your order is process and shipped. The
second phase is during shipping. If you choose our super low rate
for Fed Ex overnight delivery you will have a tracking number.
If you choose USPS as the shipping method then there is no tracking.
The last communication will be from us by email, when the print
order leaves our production facility in Oakland, California.
|
| |
|
| |
When is my order charged? |
| |
The balance due on your print order is
charged to your credit card at the time the print order is received
by Espresso Photo. |
| |
|
| |
My order

| |
Orders shipped through our super low Fed
Ex shipping option can be tracked on the Fed Ex Web

PRINTS |
|
|
|
What print sizes can I order? |
|
Espresso Photo produces
4X6, 5X7, 8X10 and uncut sheets of 4 wallet-size prints. In the
very near future
we will also make 11X14, 16X20, and 20X30 prints. The yellow smiley
face next to your uploaded files indicates the acceptable print
size. |
|
 |
|
|
|
Do you crop my pictures? |
|
If you don't crop your
picture yourself, Espresso Photo will automatically crop your image
to fit the dimensions of the print size you chose. If we have to
crop
from the sides of the image to make it fit the paper, we crop an
equal amount from each side. If we have to crop from the top or
bottom of the image, we crop an equal amount from both the top
and bottom.
|
| If your image
does not fit the standard dimensions of the selected print size you
can still have your entire
photo included by selecting the 4",5",8"XD option on the print order
menu. These are a NO CROP digital format. If you choose the 4XD size
the
print will be 4 inches in the short dimension and 5.?" (approx.
5.33") in the long dimention. |
